Hannah Massey
ARTIST STATEMENT
Sensuality, grace, movement and light are the key elements that inspire my work. I strive to create images of beauty, feasts for the senses, celebrations of all things yummy.
My recent works are based on the human form. Nudes, people in their divine glory, fleshy and unctuous, curvy and caressable.
I am inspired by both renaissance masters of light and form, as well as modern art forms such as cubism and expressionism. My goal would be to bridge these worlds to create works that are at the same time dynamic and yet graceful, romantic images of human form.
Art has been a constant theme in my life; painting and drawing incessantly since a young age. It has followed me through school, backpacking journeys across the world, through years living, working and gardening in the south of France and through birthing and raising my son in and around the Byron Shire. The last couple of years has found me step deeper into the development of my work with regular solo exhibitions and growing gallery representation and sales.
