ARTIST STATEMENT

Grandfather Song Line
This is a sacred story of the singing stones of Queensland, the story has been passed to me from my Grandfather. When the stones art hit they produce music, sending out energy and spiritually lifeforce into the ground of the surrounding valley.

Seven Sisters Turtle Song
This is a story from my Grandmothers area. Seven Sisters, sitting around a sacred site, are singing animal increase ceremonial songs. The spirit of the turtles, on their journey to Hervey Bay to lay their eggs, appears to one of the women and initiates her deeper into the Turtles Dreaming. As a result she recieves more songs and dances that she shares with the other women and turtles will thrive in the area.

the traditional dreaming stories of his grandparents in a contemporary context.

“Walker’s work is charged with an abundance of energy which draws you in. There is an immediate impact however on closer inspection fine details emerge which may have gone unnoticed in the beginning due to the stunning use of colour and rhythm.”
- John Armstrong

“Walker has retained a singular vision – a purpose and intention beautifully executed.”
