ARTIST STATEMENT
Since 1962 I have lived in South East Asia, having resided in Malaysia for the last 40 years.
In 2005 on a three month sabbatical from painting I visited my sister who had settled in Byron Bay. I felt reinvigorated by the light and the landscape of Byron Bay and the surrounding hinterland.
This has led me to make a life altering decision, after 45 years away I have decided to move home to be close to my family. Now at the age of 70, I am trying to re-establish myself as an artist in a country that knows nothing of me. I have had a very successful career as a portrait painter but now wish to indulge my love of landscapes. I feel the passion for my craft all over again, as everything I see and interpret is so very new to me. The paintings I have submitted are a reflection of that.
