Julie De Lorenzo
ARTIST STATEMENT
'When I moved to the Northern Rivers, I was excited by the intensity of cane fires, and also discovered that they were being phased out, superseded by new processes. The Big Prawn is a typical Aussie icon that I find amusing. Combining both of these, I felt the urge to paint the surroundings how I imagined Ballina to be in the earlier days. It could even be a postcard from the fifties.'
