Hans Christian Petersen
ARTIST STATEMENT
Some photographers are only taking shots of things they have a close relationship with.
Then there are those photographers specialized in taking pictures of things they dislike.
I like to take photos thrown up by the city and the road.
All these chance mingling - visual patterns of social flux.
Sometimes photography is a picture by the agency of light alone – writings with light- waves reflected by objects –trying to paint when it seems to be dark.
Photography – split continuities on paper – endless – hints of reality – movements in the shrubbery –remote controlled by events - moments in which you feel getting bright –using the power of snapshots – seeing everything – unruly – The lust of the eye is like an experiment of drowning - You float away changed
Photography - substitute memory - or tool for the poet – to wrench things from their context - unfavorable angles blur the man-made landscapes & architecture
Put yourself half around the panorama - catch the patina of fallen things.
I prefer the road less traveled with appearances of relics and remnants of civilization.
It is tender violence.
Fascination and alarm.
The end -the backdrop - or the opening paragraph of a story.
